Helambu Circuit Trekking, a short moderate country walks of a week duration where all types of trekkers, walkers, and nature lovers can join in, as the trek leads to cultural villages of old heritage traditions with daily views of dramatic landscapes and snow-capped peaks of Langtang and Jugal Himal and other mountains in the horizon.
Helambu Circuit Trekking located northeast of Kathmandu valley and the nearest walking destinations where it leads to high ridges and rolling green hills exploring local culture of isolated farm villages and into pristine forest of dense rhododendron (national flowers of Nepal), magnolia, birch, pines, oaks and fir tree lines with the backdrop of high snow-capped peaks.
Truly an enjoyable hike and trek away from mainstream trekking trails into pure wilderness within old traditional villages enriched with colourful cultures and custom and visiting its interesting Buddhist monasteries.
Walk leads after a short drive from the hub of Kathmandu city heading towards eastern valley rim at Sundarijal, and then a climb for few hours past several Tamang farm villages to scenic hilltop at Chisapani with stunning views of sunrise over chain of Himalayan peaks and then heading towards our destination within Helambu at Tarkeghyang, the land of Halo (Yalmo) one of the few rare hill tribes around Himalaya.
In Helambu soak in with its tremendous old heritage way of life and colourful custom similar to Sherpa and Tamang tribes with Buddhism religion, after a grand enjoyable time at Tarkeghyang and its other nice looking villages, our walk comes to an end with a drive back to Kathmandu after a lovely and wonderful time on Helambu Circuit Trekking.
Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing and trip preparations.
Day 03: Scenic drive to Sundarijal 1,463 m with 4 hrs walk to Chisapani 2,194m.
Day 04: Trek to Kutumsang 2,141m – 06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Thade Patti 3,600 m / 11,811ft – 04 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Tarkeghyang 2,570 m – 06 hrs
Day 07: At Tarkeghyang with local excursion.
Day 08: Trek to Sermathang 2,693m – 04 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to road head and drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs.
Day 10: International departure for homeward bound.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, Buna Treks and Expeditions staff will receive you for short transfer in the heart of Kathmandu city to your respective hotels.
After a time for refreshment, our guide will brief with information regarding your trek and your times with us in Nepal includes welcome dinner in a pleasant authentic Nepalese Restaurants with cultural programs.
Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Morning our city guide will pick you for a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley, as Kathmandu although a metropolitan hub, but still retains its ancient culture and historical sites with World Heritage Sites includes ancient temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation for Helambu Circuit Trekking.
Day 03: Scenic drive to Sundarijal 1,463 m and trek to Chisapani 2,194 m – 04 hrs walk.
Starting our marvelous walk around Helambu circuit trekking with a short scenic drive from Kathmandu to its valley to at Sundarijal located about 15 k.m. east of Kathmandu city, from Sundarijal our route leads to uphill climb through farm villages, cascade of waterfalls and reaching at an entrance of Shivapuri National Park, from here through patch of forest and scattered farm field villages to reach at Chisapani located on a ridge north of Kathmandu valley rim high hills, where air is cooler at a height of 2,300 meters with grand views of snowcapped peak ranges from Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh Himal, Lang tang Himal extend towards Jugal Himal range including views of Kathmandu valley, this spot offers stunning sunrise and sunset views as well.
Day 04: Trek to Kutumsang 2,141 m – 06 hrs.
Early morning catch the views of stunning sunrise over range of snow-clad peaks from Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh and Langtang Himal towards North East Jugal Himal mountains, with grand scenery and enjoyable views morning walk leads downhill into a nice village at Pati-Bhanjyang, and then heading with uphill climb to Thodung danda and Gulphu-Bhanjyang and the reaching our overnight destination at Kutumsang village, a lovely farm village with grand views of rolling green hills, valley and snow covered mountains.
Day 05: Trek to Thade Patti 3,600 m /11,811ft – 04 hrs.
From Kutumsang morning walk leads with a gradual climb into a dense cool alpine forest covered with tall pines-fir-magnolia and rhododendron trees and then shortly reaching a wide-open meadow and a field of Mangegoth with a small settlement and tea shops.
After a short rest crossing a hilltop towards Kyuola Bhanjyang at 3,280 m and then slowly walk leads to a short climb at Thade Patti of above 3,600 m, the highest point of our journey with several simple and nice lodges for an overnight stay, Thade Patti offers tremendous views of beautiful landscapes and snowcapped peaks.
Day 06: Trek to Tarkeghyang 2,550 m – 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads to a steep descent into a forested area to reach a farm village of Melamchegaon, and then downhill to Melamche Khola / river, on crossing a bridge uphill to Tarkeghyang village with views of Ganesh, Langtang and Jugal Himal range.
Tarkeghyang one of the most attractive villages around Central and Mid East Himalaya, famous for wood-work and intricate carving with an orchard of delicious apples are grown around this beautiful area of Helambu. Halo tribes are the main inhabitants with a strong Buddhist religion similar to Sherpa and Tamang culture.
Day 07: At Tarkeghyang with local excursion.
At Tarkeghyang village with a free day for a local excursion in the comfort of the nice homely lodge, with time for a walk around the oldest monastery of the area full of impressive Buddhist culture.
Enjoy immense culture and old traditional way of life of Hyalmo people one of the few and near extinct tribes similar to Sherpa and Tamang culture with Buddhism religion.
The place is famous for delicious green apples and wood carving with intricate pattern and design on furniture’s and engraved windows and doors of well kept clean and neat houses.
Day 08: Trek to Sermathang 2,693 m – 04 hrs walk.
After a lovely, enjoyable time at Take ghyang village morning walk leads to a level pleasant path within beautiful woodland as the walk proceeds to another lovely Hyalmo village at Ganyul about half way to Sermathang. The people around this village practice a unique tantric Buddhism known as Drukpa Kagyu which is similar to Bhutan main sect of religion.
Our journey continues passing a large Gompa (monastery), before heading to a gentle climb to Sermathang, which is another charming village of Hyalmo tribe of people with a free afternoon at leisure where you can visit its ancient monastery with views of Jugal Himal.
Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs.
Morning a short walk leads to the road head, where our fabulous and exciting Helambu circuit trekking concludes with an interesting six-hour drive brings you back at Kathmandu and then transfer to your hotels, afternoon free at leisure for shopping souvenirs, evening farewell dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with Folk culture programs as entertainment.
Day 10: International departure for homeward bound.
After a greatly enjoyable and mesmerizing time on Helambu Circuit trekking with your last day in Nepal, a country full of amazing views and Himalayan wonders, as per the flight time our staff transfers you for the final departure homeward bound.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE
Year of 2023 we group of people did a wonderful three weeks Manaslu Circuit + Tsum Valley Trek which is organized by Buna Treks & Expedition Company. This was an amazing experience and the level of service and support we received from the agency and its staff exceeded our expectations. Mr. Rudra director of this company, he is professionals and he is expertise of tourism industry, he advice for us was great and fruitful, each time patiently answered in clear manner all of my questions, the manager Sunita came to airport in Kathmandu for our Arrivals. The way she welcomed us was admired at the very first foot step in a beautiful country then checked in at the hotel. Second day we have done Kathmandu day tour with mit city guide Mrs. Prava, then we had a great dinner meeting with manager Sunita and guide Mr. Bikash. As the guide told us, we packed our stuff. Day 3rd departure from our trek. All Buna crew members Guide Bikash and Porter Chewan, Dinesh, Tholo Dai, have done amazing work. We all were happy to choose your company.
We will come back soon and recommend from the bottom of our hearts.

Gokyo Lake Trekking
Out of many trekking agency in Nepal, I certainly choose Buna Treks & Expedition pvt. Ltd. For the trek to Gokyo around high Khumbu within Everest region. I have been in Nepal for six times and finally found one of the best trekking agency Buna Treks. Within all the years of experience in Nepal I have used 3 different trekking agency which were not so good and far from my expectations.
Thanks Buna and founder Rudra, your trekking arrangements was so professionals, me and my teams all 14 people were really happy from your staff and with BUNA services. Tour in Nepal
I availed Buna Trek’s Kathmandu Valley One Day Sightseeing Tour and it was truly one of the highlights of my stay in Kathmandu. Rudra was a spectacular tour guide and knew the city and its history like the back of his hands. I particularly enjoyed Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa. The tour was well organized and leisurely paced. The transfer from my hotel to the sites and stopovers were seamless and Rudra was very accommodating and cheerful during the entire trip. Rudra even took the time to accompany in Thamel to explore the area’s nightlife and cultural show. I also got to taste authentic local cuisine as per Rudra’s recommendation, and the food in Thamel was nothing short of fantastic! It was like having a local friend tour you in Kathmandu, making the experience worthwhile and truly memorable. Kathmandu may be a tiny city but its people and culture will wow you big time! And all of these I experienced because of Buna Trek and of course Rudra. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, I will be back for sure!
