Trip Overview

BUNA‘s Ghale-Gaon Home stay trek is another grand attraction within a great range of Annapurna Himalaya, where you can experience the in-depth traditional life of the high hills people of Nepal soaking within its culture in the backdrop of Annapurna-Lamjung Himal and Manaslu mountain range with magnificent Mt. Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’.

This is the perfect country walk on the high ridges and green hills of eastern Annapurna and Lamjung Himal, as the trek is moderate with few ups and downhill walks and reaching high at 2,670 m high at Ghan-Pokhara village, where altitude sickness never gets you but still you will be within close to the mountains in the comfort of village community homestay with warm friendly hospitality of Ghale people of Gurung subclass tribes.

Besides trekking culture and old heritage traditions way of life of Ghale and Gurung people is equally captivating where you soak with the local custom.

Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu received by our staff and transfer to the hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing and trip preparations.
Day 03: Drive to Khudi 960 m via Besishaar 800 m – 06 hrs
Day 04: Trek to Ghale-Gaon 1,700 m – 06 hours.
Day 05: At Ghale-Gaon for exploration of the village and its culture.
Day 06: Trek to Ghan-Pokhara village 2,670m – 05 hours.
Day 07: Trek back to Khudi – 05 hours.
Day 08: Drive to Pokhara 950 m – 04 hrs journey
Day 09: In Pokhara with a sightseeing tour.
Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu or by air.
Day 11: International departure for homeward bound.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, Buna Treks and Expeditions staff will receive you for short transfer in the heart of Kathmandu city to your respective hotels.

After a time for refreshment, our guide will brief with information regarding your trek and your times with us in Nepal includes welcome dinner in a pleasant authentic Nepalese Restaurants with cultural programs.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour and trek preparation.
Morning our city guide will pick you for a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley, as Kathmandu although a metropolitan hub, but still retains its ancient culture and historical sites with World Heritage Sites includes ancient temples, monasteries, old king’s palaces after an interesting tour back to the hotel, preparation for Ghale-Gaon Home Stay trekking.

Day 03: Drive to Khudi 960 m via Besisar 800 m – 06 hrs.

Morning with an interesting and scenic long drive towards Nepal midwest, journey leads to Besisar town then on the dirt road to Khudi following the Marysangdi River upstream, the drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to reach at Khudi village for overnight stop, an interesting village located on route to Manang and Annapurna circuit trekking trail.

Day 04: Trek to Ghale-Gaon 1,700 m – 06 hours.

Starting the first day walk with a climb most of the way to reach a ridge, where the warm temperature drops to cooler alpine climate and then walking into pleasant forest of rhododendron, oaks and pine trees passing through few spread out Sheppard’s huts and shelters over wide green meadows reaching a small farm village at Baglung-Pani with incredible views of Annapurna, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu mountain range, from here another hour of good walk leads to Ghale-Gaon villages, here you will be welcomed with traditional hospitality of Ghale one of much tribal class of Gurung people.

Afternoon free exploring the nice villages and interacting with the locals observing their fascinating cultures and custom.

Day 05: At Ghale-Gaon for exploration of the village and its culture.

An extra day at Ghale-Gaon for you to enjoy and experience around this model village with its typical Nepalese culture and lifestyles of Gurung people, one of the hills tribes of Mid West Nepal Himalaya.

Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and in other rituals.
Age-old cultural dances like Jyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghatu, Sorathi, Jankri etc are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments and with the dancers in traditional dress. Visitors to Ghalegaun are welcomed with the offering of garlands and Tika while music and dances are performed and traditional farewell songs are sung when guests depart.

Nepali New Year and Buddha Jayanti are celebrated with a traditional dance called Ghatu.
The people of Ghalegaun keep goats and sheep and use wool from these animals to make woollen products. They make clothes and bags from nettle fibre (Allo Cloth) and scarf, towels and shawls from the wool of angora rabbits. Ironsmiths make different iron products. Craftsmen produce a whole of different products from bamboo.

Day 06: Trek to Ghan-Pokhara village 2,670m – 05 hours.

After an enjoyable time around Ghale-Gaon with interesting Gurung culture and custom heading past Ghale-Gaon to reach another Gurung village at Ghan-Pokhara walking into pristine forested area with amazing views of surrounding landscapes and snowcapped peaks, a lovely walk on the gradual winding trail with few ups and downs and last climb of the day for less than an hour to reach at Ghan-Pokhara a lovely large farm village with locals in active with farm works.

At Ghan-Pokhara another warm reception with garland with homely hospitality with enough time to marvel the village life with the surrounding views.

Day 07: Trek back to Khudi – 05 hours.
From this nice village with wonderful experience a warm farewell of local culture and custom, the walk is much easier than previous day with more downhill walk all the way to Khudi through Baglung-pani village for an overnight stop after a nice day trek.

Day 08: Drive to Pokhara 860m – 04 hrs.
After a pleasant overnight stop at Khudi by the raging Marysangdi Starting our wonderful journey continues towards Pokhara, a popular tourist spot enriched with the natural beauty of rolling green hills, verdant valley and lakes where Annapurna range of mountains including magnificent Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’ towers above Pokhara valley.

At Pokhara in the comfort of nice hotels by the lake Phewa with views of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 09: In Pokhara with a sightseeing tour.
Pokhara one of the most beautiful scenic spot in all Himalaya with warm temperatures yet the mountains at close distance a mere 25 k.m. as the crow fly distance, in Pokhara tour begins early morning with short drive to Sarankot hill, to catch stunning sunrise views over range of snow-capped mountains from world’s 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167 m, 10th highest
Mt. Annapurna 8,091 m and 8th highest Mt. Manaslu 8,163 m with an array of smaller peaks and ever-present Mt. Machhapuchare “Fish Tail” towers at above 6,993 m high.

Sarankot hilltop the tallest spot around Pokhara valley at 1, 460 meters with super views of mountains, Pokhara green valley and its city with Phewa Lake below, besides the fabulous panorama famous for paragliding which is one of the most popular adventure sports around this scenic place.

In Pokhara with two nights marvel the beautiful scenery with a tour of Bindhyabasini Temple, Devi’s waterfall with Gupteshwor Mahadev cave all this program are done in a day before breakfast and after breakfast and lunch on route sightseeing places with boating in the serene lake Phewa in the backdrop of the mountains.

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu or by air.
After a marvellous time on high mountains and hills of Annapurna Himal, morning depart from Pokhara with the overland drive back to Kathmandu. (Flying options 30 mins by air to Kathmandu)

Day 11: International departure for homeward bound.
After a memorable and great enjoyable time on Ghale-Gaon around Annapurna high hills and at scenic Pokhara, with your last day in Nepal, a country full of amazing views and Himalayan wonders, as per the flight time our staff transfers you for the final departure homeward bound.
